My name is Carrie Honaker. I will be starting my 4th year here at LPS.  I am so excited to be teaching Middle/High School band, Middle School Choir and 5th/6th ELA . I graduated from Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston La, in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education with my area of specialization in music. I graduated with a Masters in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University in April of 2017.  I currently hold a Texas Teaching Certificate in Music Ec-12, Generalist Ec-6, ESL Ec-12. My teaching experience consists of Third Grade, Second Grade, Middle school/High school band, First Grade and Pre-K.

My husband Doug and I have been married for 21 years and have lived here in Frisco for 14 years with our two children. Blake, who will be a Freshman at University of Oklahoma, enjoys playing trumpet in the Pride of Oklahoma Marching band and will be studying Communications at the Gaylord College at OU. Be sure to watch the OU games to see my boy take the field with the Pride of OU. Cameron, who will be a Sophomore at Reedy High School, will be participating in Reedy Lion Marching Band playing French Horn and will be a left-handed pitcher/first baseman for the Reedy baseball team.   We spend our time attending sports and band events for our boys. As a family, we love to travel.  We have a puppy, Brady, who keeps us busy. I love to read, drink coffee, listen to music and watch movies. I love teaching and have wanted to be a teacher since my third-grade teacher took the time to help me become more successful in the classroom. I will love and treat your children like they are my own. I am so excited to get to know each and every one of them and you.

  • Elementary school music at LPS is a general music class where each grade level learns new skills and builds of of the previous year's instruction through singing, dancing, movement, and playing small pitch or unpitched percussion instruments.

We will be creating our first ever LPS Elementary Choir consisting of 4th graders.  We will be performing at Merry Main Street on Dec 3 in downtown Frisco.

Please understand that I only see your student once a week and every moment is important to build their basic music knowledge. Their best behavior is always expected.
